Happy hour times vary by location, so the table below is built from one restaurant's official Applebee's location page per city, checked October 28, 2026. Where a restaurant's own message publishes both windows, both are shown. Where its page publishes only the afternoon window and no late-night window, the late-night cell reads “Not published” — that is not a guess that the late session starts at 9:00 PM, and it is not proof that the restaurant runs none; it means only that its official page publishes none, so check with that restaurant before you go. The afternoon times for Houston, Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas and Orlando come from each page's own “generally from 3 PM to 6 PM” line, which itself warns that times can change. Two rows need a closer read. New York does not follow the standard pattern at all: its restaurant message puts bar drink specials at 4:00 PM to close Monday–Thursday and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, with half-price appetizers only from 10:00 PM to close — so there is no 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM window to copy into that row. And the Los Angeles row is the Alhambra restaurant in Los Angeles County, labelled as the Los Angeles area rather than as a downtown Los Angeles restaurant, because that is the restaurant whose page was checked.

The pattern across the table is the point: the 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM afternoon window is the only one published everywhere, while a published late-night window appears for just three of the eleven restaurants (Los Angeles area, San Diego and Las Vegas, plus New York's 10:00 PM appetizer session). Treat every other late-night cell as unverified, not as a 9:00 PM start, and confirm through the location finder before travelling for it.

Applebee's Late Night Happy Hour

Late night starts at 9:00 PM and ends when the restaurant does. At a location open until midnight, that's a three-hour window. At one that closes at 11:00 PM on a Tuesday, it's two.

The catch is the kitchen, not the clock. Kitchens stop taking orders before the doors lock, so an order placed at 11:50 PM at a midnight close may not go in. Check operating hours for your restaurant and order at least 30 minutes before close.

One state is the exception to the whole window: Indiana law bars drink specials between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, so at an Indiana restaurant late night is an appetizers-only deal. See the state law section below for how that rule works.

Applebee's Happy Hour Menu: Half Price Apps With Prices

Your restaurant's regular prices should be close to these. Half price is rounded to the cent.

The one to ask about is The Classic Combo. At $18.99 it's the most expensive appetizer on the menu, and half off would take $9.50 off a single plate, which is why restaurants leave platters off the list. Ask before it goes on the ticket. If it's excluded, Mozzarella Sticks and a Chicken Quesadilla together cost $11.00 and beat it on protein.

New this fall: O-M-Cheese Chicken Nachos joined the appetizer menu on August 31, 2026. Applebee's hasn't said whether they count toward half price, so that's another one to ask about.

Which Half Price App Is the Best Deal?

Order the Chicken Quesadilla. The cheapest plate isn't always the one that fills you up, so it's worth looking at how much protein each dollar buys you at happy hour prices:

The quesadilla and the Mozzarella Sticks give you the same protein for your money. The quesadilla wins because it's the bigger plate: 1,170 calories against 860. Split between two people, it's a light dinner for $6.00.

Spinach & Artichoke Dip gives you about half as much protein for the money. It tastes like a better deal than it is.

And watch the Boneless Wings sauce. In Classic Hot Buffalo they carry 4,720mg of sodium, more than twice the 2,300mg daily limit the FDA sets for adults. Happy Hour Savings Ranked: Where the Money Is

Half price sounds uniform. It isn't. The dollar saving depends on the regular price, so the apps rank like this:

The Boneless Wings save the most money on the list — $6.49 a plate — and the Mozzarella Sticks save the least, $4.99, because they're the cheapest app to start with. Order all six at happy hour and the bill is $34.00 against $67.94 at full price: $33.94 saved, which is more than the 2 for $25 costs. Ranked by filling power instead of dollars, the Chicken Quesadilla still wins — the protein table above is the one to use for that.

Applebee's Happy Hour Drinks

Applebee's restaurant listings say "half price appetizers and more" and stop there. Drink pricing at happy hour is set by each restaurant, so there's no national price to quote. Ask for the bar menu when you sit down.

What is national right now is the Halloween menu. Through November 15, 2026, Applebee's is selling two $6 Spooky Sips: the Tipsy Zombie, made with Bacardí Superior rum, passion fruit, pineapple, cherry and lime, and Dracula's Juice, with Bacardí, Cuervo Tradicional Blanco and prickly pear. For the first time there's a booze-free option too, the $4 Tropical Spell Mocktail. These are a flat limited-time price, not a happy hour discount.

Through October 31, 2026 there's a second Halloween deal running alongside them — but it isn't a happy hour one. The Hallowings Bucket, 20 boneless wings for $12.99, is To Go and delivery only, ordered through applebees.com or the app. Order the bucket from the couch, then come in for the drinks.

The $1 Dollarita isn't running nationally right now. It came back for July 2026 and ended July 31, and no October 2026 local return has been verified — a Maryland $1 report circulating this month is a 2017 release, not a 2026 offer — so it's worth asking your local restaurant before you go. States Where Applebee's Can't Discount Drinks

No drink specials at your Applebee's? Before you blame the manager, check the state. Six states don't allow time-limited drink discounts:

In every one of those states the half price appetizers still run. The laws cover alcohol and nothing else.

Two states most lists get wrong

Oklahoma. Plenty of lists still call it a ban state, but it isn't. Bars and restaurants there can run happy hour specials, as long as the price stays at least 6% above what the drink costs them.

Indiana. It lifted its ban on July 1, 2024, when House Bill 1086 took effect — but the new law has limits most lists never mention. A time-limited drink special there can run at most four hours a day and 15 hours a week, and it cannot run between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. Applebee's late night session starts at 9:00 PM, so in Indiana the drink half of late night happy hour can't legally happen: the afternoon session can discount drinks, the 9:00 PM one can't. The half price appetizers still run in both windows, because the law covers alcohol, not food. If someone told you there's no happy hour in Indianapolis, they're working from an old list — but if the late night drink deal is missing there, the restaurant is following the law, not being cheap.

What to Know Before You Go to Happy Hour

• Ask where to sit. Some restaurants only give happy hour prices in the bar area. Ask the host before you get seated in the dining room.
• Call ahead on weekends. Not every restaurant runs the 3 to 6 PM window on Saturday and Sunday. The 9 PM to close window is the safer weekend bet.
• Order before the kitchen winds down. Late-night happy hour runs to close, but the kitchen can stop taking food orders before the doors lock. Get your apps in early.
• Order in rounds. Fried apps are at their best in the first few minutes. Two at a time means everything arrives hot.
• Start with Boneless Wings or Mozzarella Sticks. They're the most consistent apps on the list. Save the Spinach & Artichoke Dip for a restaurant you know makes it well.
• Confirm the list with your server. Each restaurant decides which apps are half price.
• Check allergens before you order. The allergen menu flags milk, wheat, soy and the rest for every appetizer, which matters most when the apps are shared.

Can You Get Half Price Apps To Go?

It's a seat-filling deal. A $5.00 plate of Mozzarella Sticks makes sense for the restaurant when you're also ordering a drink and maybe an entrée. Eaten on your couch, it's just a discount.

The two deals don't stack — you can't put happy hour pricing on top of the bundle — so the question is which one matches what you're actually eating. Run the numbers on a table for two:

Does Applebee's Have Happy Hour on Weekends?

The afternoon window is the one to ask about. Half price appetizers exist to fill a quiet dining room, so a restaurant that is already busy on a Saturday afternoon has less reason to run it, while the 9:00 PM window is aimed at late-night trade either way. Whether yours runs both on a weekend is a question only the restaurant can answer.

Sunday also runs into state law in a few places, where alcohol service starts later. The food half of happy hour isn't affected by any of that.

Applebee's Happy Hour on Holidays

On minor holidays — Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day — most restaurants run the normal two windows. The big three at the end of the year are different. Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26, 2026) depends on the franchise: many locations open with reduced hours and some close, so either window can shrink or vanish. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve usually mean adjusted hours, and an early close cuts the late night session first. On Christmas Day most Applebee's locations are closed, so there's no happy hour at all.

Most Applebee's are run by local franchise owners, and each one sets its own schedule and prices. So 3–6 PM and 9 PM–close is the default, not a guarantee.

In practice, three things move: the weekend schedule, whether platters count, and the drink list. The core apps rarely change. Your state's alcohol law can remove drink deals entirely.

Applebee's vs Chili's vs TGI Fridays: Which Happy Hour Wins?

Applebee's, Chili's and TGI Fridays all run a happy hour, but they're not the same deal. Applebee's sells food: half price appetizers, every day, in two windows. Chili's sells drinks: the prices are sharper and the food discounts vary by location. TGI Fridays sits between the two.

The short version: want food, pick Applebee's. It's the only one of the three where half price appetizers run every day of the week, weekends included. Want a drink, pick Chili's. The $6 Margarita of the Month doesn't need a happy hour window at all — walk in at lunch and it's $6. TGI Fridays is the middle ground: cheap food and cheap drinks together, but the windows are weekday-only at most locations.
